two women
two glasses
one bottle of new wine
both mothers
three daughters
and a son
between them
neighborhood sisters
cousins in faith
the sofa is their arc
for an evening
of sharing joy
and sorrow
quickening friendship
leaping through
memory and news
each with their own
fiat toward a life
pregnant with the
miraculous
held within the palms
of an ordinary day
