Update
So, I decided to come back to Medium. A number of factors had me thinking about it, and then they had a half price sale that marked me as sold. If my years on this planet have taught me anything, it’s to pay attention and to watch for signs; I suppose “sale” was the final arrow pointing me here again after not a particularly long absence.
I really love my website on Wordpress — I think it’s a terrific platform in terms of everything being already conveniently built in (for people to follow you, for instance, whereas with Squarespace you have to learn a whole other thing called Mailchimp unless you want to pay extra) and also its general user-friendliness. It seems to be well prioritized in terms of search engines and all that other tech stuff that I haven’t bothered trying to learn or understand. I really like it.
BUT.
There’s just no interaction with people. Granted, I don’t have very many followers, but even with that small group I don’t feel any connection at all, or any sense of community. (Except with one guy who is a film photographer — haha, figures!) Maybe if I keep at it and put a ton more time into it, this will blossom and grow. Or maybe it won’t.
