POETRY
Sing
Sing: no matter the size of the crowd.
Sing and let your voice carry down Main Street.
Sing for the people you might never meet
with a voice on the wind soaring to loud.
Let the microphone amplify a proud
version of your song, let verses repeat
the moment, let the melody complete
a weekday afternoon, artful in sound.
Classics and moderns, in multiple tongues;
low notes and high ones, air pushing through lungs.
We are listening, we stop and we see
the singer performing: talent set free.
This poem and the photograph are part of the My Town series I am working on for NaNoWriMo. Readers, thank you!
