Orion
maybe you’d say I have no business complaining
and maybe you’d be right
but we are how we are
in their caprice, they knew
how I’d be once they unleashed me
made to be ravenous
made for the quest
coursing after my quarry
because it’s all part of the game:
hare, bull, or those pretty sprites
there is no difference
I am indefatigable in both heart and mind
once I’ve tightened my belt
and struck out
just try to bring that bolt back
once it’s sailed for its mark
seven years I spent
on a pilgrimage of desire
larger than life
all my skills honed for a single purpose:
appropriate all that allures
anything to quell this hunger
but penchant’s chasm won’t be satiated,
even now
tho I’ve been brought down
by the prick of an arachnid’s tail
