A Birthday Poem

Older, and bolder
Standing on wiser shoulders
Overlooking mine

I would sing you my song
but I’ve sung it before
I’ve been singing it all these years,
the same tune in different keys
that cycle like the days of the week

It’s always the same heart
singing, sometimes louder than others
phasing from just a sliver to a full shine,
from repose to celebration,
from a little ditty to a bounding symphony
ranging up and down every scale
never missing a beat

Yesterday I turned another year older: yay! So a little birthday poem for you. Thank you, readers! Where are my fellow Virgos?
