I have a thing for rivers. I also have a thing for photography, and for writing (probably you have already notice this). Prodded by Alan Asnen’s kind words the other day, I thought I would share a collection of images of the Rio Grande, made in a variety of locations, since I have been fortunate enough to come upon it in more than one state.

The Rio Grande is wide and slow (and, sometimes, crazy shallow) in Big Bend National Park. Last year we paddled upriver in our inflatable kayak, and we had to get out and carry it through inch-deep water many times. (It was worth the effort.)

Oooh look, color film! Rio Grande, Santa Elena Canyon, Big Bend (by moi, I think this is Kodak Gold 200)
Like I said, it can be shallow . . . . . Rio Grande, Big Bend National Park | Hasselblad and color film
