Memory in conversation with the body

Un-personify me

Dandelion-like
let me scatter and dissolve
in the wind
blown by breath along
my spine from root to crown
let that primal draft
sound the flute
passing registers one by one

This interlocking highway
of bones, this energy transport
let it bend and sway
where the deep river
draws shallow, where reeds
murk and mask in the mud
where fishermen wade
brushing breezes of seeds
in their wake

let the dream alight
and begin again
circular as respiration

let the supple column
bow in salutation
let it rise back up
acknowledging earth
in all its humanity

This poem was sparked by a conversation I had with a new friend a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you for reading!
