I logged on today to post a tanka (more like a tankoid) so this is timely - and it's also though provoking and terrific! Personally I feel like all forms are there as tools to play with, just like with any art form. Breaking boundaries and playing are important part of the creative process, IMO. While I write haiku, I am well aware of the fact that I'm not doing the form justice in the traditional sense. . . . but then again I'm not trying to in the first place, I'm just borrowing the scheme of it for my own words. What is a rose, anyway? By any other name. . . . : D
