I can identify with this in relation to photography- more than once I have been told I was “born in the wrong decade,” in other words for what I like to make to be popular with the art people who get to decide what’s en vogue.. Fortunately, I could care less about being “popular,” so I just keep making what I enjoy. …. Re the painting thing: yep to that too. I’m a photographer, not an artist. And I like to write, but I am no “writer.” Labels come with heavy baggage.
