More than where you live
Carpeted with welcome mats
Zip code of comfort
The place you let your heart stay
The place you choose as your own

Nest of memory
Hang your hat and rest a while
Belonging awaits
An early taste of heaven
Private corner of the world

On November 1st, I made a list of 30 things I am thankful for, with the intention of writing a poem a day on one item from the list, in the hope that this would help me keep my mind focused on gratitude. . . . . I’ve found gratitude to be the first thing in life’s garden to wither and die if I don’t tend it regularly, so I know I need to work on my focus constantly. I’m going in order of how I wrote the list, and I’m composing 2 stanzas of Tanka for each thing. If you are reading this, I am grateful for the time you have given me! If you’re up for a challenge, I would love it if you joined me in this, however you want to do it (you don’t have to write Tankas, etc); if you do please tag me so I can follow your journey. PS I’m putting these on my Instagram and Twitter too.
