Advent Poems

My life revolves like a magic 8 ball of Q&A
the alarm sounds and my brain says no
but rationally I rise with a yes to commence
another litany of duties

In all the knee jerk pile of negatives I sift through
I’d like to think there are far more affirmatives
but I don’t keep count

Yes is my fiat
my door-opening hello
to each day’s incessant knocking

Yes, I will go
Yes, I can be there
Yes, I can do that or
Yes, I can at least try

If one morning my wake up call
was the tickle of downy feathers
against my cheek
if it was the sweet scent of heaven
the half-terror of an encounter
with an other-worldly messenger
saying hi we need you,
will you

I hope I would say yes

without any hesitation

I hope that maybe
without realizing it
I already have

Advent poems continue! Thank you, readers!
