A Prose Poem for the End of the Year

The week since Christmas Eve stretches out on its side fat as a lumpy figure eight, measured in cookies, chocolates, cups of tea, family comings and houseguest goings, fancy cheeses and the occasional glass of wine, lazily lumbering to another meal around the Advent wreath with a girth that belies the number of blessed days.
