Bottomless Lakes
The land of enchantment appears slowly
where red dirt rolls into tufts of sage green
and 2D cowboys lounge, almost holy,
towering in the wild. A blue sky gleams
like a turquoise bead, strung time out of time,
present before the earth began to sink
in pockets, where she could store a lifeline
for the desert. At night clarity winks
into those depths from its own, a mirror
of eternity cracked open. This place
knows wonders and secrets. How much clearer
mysteries become when seen face to face.
I awoke and stretched in the sun, renewed,
restoring a heart that had come unglued.
