An unenergetic noon
splayed out in the rubble
of self-doubt’s wrecking ball
Rolling in ashes

Splayed out in the rubble
she considers
rolling the ashes
into new bricks

She considers
the prospect of reconstruction
using new bricks
to build a new dream

The prospect of reconstruction
lingers, un-energetic at noon,
reticent, not yet ready to build a new dream
with self-doubt’s wrecking ball
