After School Snacks

After school snacks
“Please mom I’m hungry, I need an
after school snack.”
Pretzels or chips, right from the sack,
popped straight into the mouth by hand.
Kids cry out all across the land
for after school snacks.

SNACKS! They’ve always been close to my heart, but since becoming a mother I’ve been amazed at how much they are part of playdates and school days. I don’t remember food being part of going to a friend’s house when I was a kid, and we certainly weren’t allowed snacks at school (or water bottles). AFTER school, however, I clearly recall eating any and every thing I could get my hands on. Vives les snacks!
